Taylor Anderson

Meet our new Lead Catching Instructor, Taylor Anderson. Coach Anderson joins us after recently moving to the area from the Hudson Valley in New York, after a four-year stint with the highly academic prestigious Vassar College. There, he was the Hitting, Catching, and Recruiting Coordinator.

Taylor began his playing career at Cambridge South-Dorchester High School in Maryland, where he was 3x All-Conference and a 2x Captain under former Giants, Diamondbacks, and Dodgers pitcher Troy Brohawn. Following high school, Taylor was recruited to play at NCAA Division III powerhouse, Salisbury University. An injury to his hip, forced him to have surgery in the fall season 2012 and he transferred to State University of New York at New Paltz in the Hudson Valley. There, he had a successful career as an outfielder and a catcher providing leadership to an up-and-coming program as a 2x Captain of the Hawks. He was selected to the SUNYAC All-Academic team.

Following graduation from SUNY New Paltz, Taylor joined Vassar College as a volunteer Catching Coach under former Detroit Tigers pitcher, Matt Righter. Righter was Taylor’s college manager at New Paltz. During his time at Vassar, he saw his duties and responsibilities grow, becoming the Hitting, Catching, and Recruiting Coordinator despite being a Volunteer Assistant. Taylor spent much of his time away from the college, researching and instructing at the catcher position.

Since moving to the area, Coach Anderson has joined Loris High School as an assistant for the 2022 spring season. He also will be coaching the Waterfront Flip Flops in the Myrtle Beach Summer Collegiate League.

Coach Anderson has developed a high level receiving based philosophy that focuses on influencing the game through stealing strikes first, blocking balls second, and throwing out runners third. Through connections from the recruiting trail while at Vassar, Coach Anderson was able to work with some of the best catching minds in the game.
